In the 798 Art District of Beijing, there is a complex mixture of overtly political art. The district is made stranger by its old factory shell which still bears maoist slogans from generations prior who worked under the regime.

The muslim quarter in Xi'an is known for its vibrant and eclectic night market which in the dead of winter is a sea of flickering stall lights and steam from food vendors. This stall owner has grown up in the quarter and her smile and fierce pride in the neatness of her shop, are typical of this extraordinary and unique community in China.
